With today's economy people can not afford the weddings that they could just a few years ago. The national average cost of a wedding was $21,814 last year, down 24% compared with 2007, when a wedding averaged $28,704, according to data from The Wedding Report, a research company that tracks the industry. In 2009, the cost of the average wedding is expected to be down another 10%.
